Pretty DIY Galentine’s Day Decor Ideas
Are you celebrating Galentine’s Day this year? Yes, you read it right. I’m not talking about Valentine.
Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating your friends on 13 February. It is an unofficial holiday that originated from the TV show Parks and Recreation. It is related to women’s friendship and women empowering each other.
The theme is almost the same as Valentine’s, all the pinks and reds. However, the only difference about this day is that we celebrate friends instead of love.
If you like to keep it simple, I am sharing easy and simple DIY projects in these slideshows. You can do them at the last minute plus they are also light on your pocket.
Love Letter Garland
A garland is your go-to DIY for any event. For Galentines, you can craft a heartfelt DIY with a love letter envelope shape. Cut out envelope shapes from felt or colored paper, and string them together to form a garland.
This one is a breeze to make plus you can hang it across multiple spaces such as your mantel or along a wall.
If you like, you can attach a note or a task on the back and ask each girl to pick one. This way, your cute little decor will become part of the fun game for the Galentine party.
Balloon Clusters
Make a statement with a heart-shaped balloon arch for your girl’s party. Use balloons in various shades of pink and red to form a heart outline. This eye-catching piece serves as a perfect photo spot for you and your friends.
You don’t need to restrict to heart shapes, opt for any shape and a mix of pastel and metallic balloons. Add tassels, fringe, or even balloons filled with tiny confetti for an elegant but fun centerpiece.
Customized Wine Glasses
You aren’t going to toss the best friendship day with plain basic glasses. Try something funky or pretty with glass paint or adhesive vinyl to make them look elegant. Some glitter and a simple ribbon wrap can also make it look fun.
Use a decorative or glass tray and arrange the customized wine glasses to make them look more pretty. You can also throw some pink and red flower petals in a glass or tray for a charming finish.
Single Flower Wall Art
Make a minimal yet striking wall display by taping single blooms (real or faux) onto a blank wall. Use washi tape or colorful ribbons for a chic finish. This effortless setup doubles as a beautiful photo backdrop.
Arrange the flowers in a grid or random pattern for variety. Adding a soft curtain behind the flowers can create a layered effect. Incorporate a few dried flowers for added texture and depth for some unique twist.
Floating Hearts Backdrop
A cute backdrop where all the girls can click some pretty photos for Instagram is a must. Go for a whimsical photo backdrop with floating hearts.
Cut out hearts from pink and red paper, and attach them to clear fishing line. Hang the strands from the ceiling to give the illusion of hearts floating in mid-air.
DIY Photo Booth Props
Talking about photo backdrop, your girls also need some fun props to pose with. You can add fun items like lips, glasses, and speech bubbles on sticks using cardstock and decorative elements.
However, more girly elements like fake diamond crowns, pearl necklaces, or flowers will be more perfect according to the event.
Heart-Shaped Pillows
Turn an old fleece sweater into cozy, heart-shaped pillows for the ultimate Galentine’s Day vibes. Start by laying your sweater flat and tracing a heart shape using chalk or a washable marker.
Cut out two identical heart shapes from the fabric. Place the pieces together, with the inside (wrong side) facing outward, and sew around the edges, leaving a small opening.
Flip the fabric right side out and stuff it with a polyester filling or extra fabric scraps.
Once it’s filled, sew the opening shut by hand. Arrange these pillows on a bench, couch, or bed to create a warm and inviting spot for your friends.
Love Quote Chalkboard
This one is my favorite. When you are short of time just put a big chalkboard or maybe a board with sticky notes and pens right next to it.
Ask your friends to write a quote or draw a picture of something that reminds them of you. Once they have contributed their thoughts and drawings, make sure to display the board in a prominent location where it can be easily seen by everyone.
Napkin Love
Another fun and easy DIY idea for last-minute table settings: use old bangles or rings to dress up your napkins, Bangles or rings with a gold color stand out and add a nice touch.
When picking napkin colors, try to choose ones that match your party theme such as shades of red or pink would be perfect. To make it even fancier, consider attaching a flower from your garden to each bangle.
DIY Scented Candle
For a smaller squad, creating DIY scented candles in each girl’s favorite fragrance is a great idea. You can easily find candle-making kits online or in stores to craft personalized candles.
Select jars in the favorite colors of your friends. These colorful jars will brighten up the space and also show your thoughtfulness in planning.
Red Velvet Heart-Shaped Brownies
Bake (or buy) red velvet brownies and cut them into heart shapes using cookie cutters. To make them even more appealing, you can decorate the heart-shaped brownies with a light dusting of powdered sugar or drizzle some pink frosting on top.
Once decorated, arrange the brownies on a beautiful tiered tray that’s both delicious and Instagram-worthy.
DIY Pallet Sitting Area
Transform your outdoor space with a DIY pallet seating setup. Cover pallets with comfy cushions and blankets in vibrant colors.
Next, add some charming decorative elements to set the mood. Hang lanterns and place candles around the area to create a warm and welcoming glow.
For an enchanting touch, string up fairy lights overhead, allowing them to twinkle like stars as the sun sets. This beautiful setup will provide the perfect backdrop for a boho-inspired Galentine’s evening.
Mini DIY Teepee Setup
Set up a cozy teepee corner with blankets, pillows, and fairy lights. Add a rug and small trays with snacks and drinks for a dreamy space where guests can lounge, chat, and take cute photos.
Choose pastel or boho-themed fabrics for the teepee to tie in with your party’s color palette. Incorporate small fairy light strings inside the teepee for a soft glow that feels magical and inviting.
